In reply to your letter No. 8820/05 0.9.0. G dated 21st. May, 1906, relative to a proposed road at North Point, I have the honour to point out that this is the first intimation I have received that a definite scheme has been put forward for the reclamation of the foreshore in this neighbour hood. Had I been aware of this I should have taken it into consideration in reference to the Military requirements at North
Point.
2.
To enable me to fully consider Your Excellency' present proposals I should be greatly obliged if you would favour me with information as to the extent of this proposed reclamation, and, more particularly, as to when and by whom it is to be carried out. The question of dete would materially affect the Military aspect of the case.
3.
I understand Your Excellency to zive, as on reason for assigning a low value to the land required by the
Colony, the fact that there would be restrictions as to buildi on the upper slopes, owing to the presence of the Battery: would however point out that this caus) would equally tend lower the value of the reclaimed land, as the immediate
proximity of guns firing overhead would render the site less
eligible than it would otherwise be,
I have fc.
