Government House,

Hongkong, 31st. May, 1906.

As it has become necessary to

arrange for the Medical treatment of the Officers and

Subordinates of the Railway Staff and it is not possible

to allot this duty to any permanent Medical Officer in the

employ of the Government, I have the honour to report

that I have authorised the engagement of a Doctor on a

three years' agreement at a salary of £480 a year with an

annual conveyance allowance of $360 and a special allow**

-ance of $5 for every visit to Taipo and beyond which will

necessitate an absence of more than eight hours from his

residence this latter allowance being on the scale provided

by General Order 38 printed in the Hongkong Civil Service

List 1906.

2.

In addition to attending on the

Railway Staff, the Doctor appointed will be required to do

such medical work in Kowloon as may be allotted to him
