I now transmit a copy of the
Report of this Committee which covers a prospectus of the
proposed classes with a syllabus of instruction and time
table. The Committee also make suggestions for the appoint-
-ment of teachers and for the supervision of the classes
by a small permanent Committee with a paid Secretary and
they put forward an estimate of cost showing a preliminary
expenditure of $600 and subsequent annual expenditure of
$4,299 to be necessary for carrying out the scheme.
The proposals of the Committee
appear to be well considered and the estimate of cost to
be a reasonable one. I have accordingly the honour to
request Your Lordship's sanction to a trial being made of
this scheme of evening continuation classes, to my taking
a vote in Council for $2,000 to cover the necessary ex-
-penses that will be incurred on it during the current
year and to my including a sum of $4,299 for the classes
in the Estimates of the Education Department for 1907.
