taking of the census and rectification of the numbers in

the year following a census year. Again, the figures
appearing as consumption per head include all trade
supplies, etc., and are affected by such trade affairs as
activity or depression in the sugar refining industry.

I would remind Your Lordship that
the completion this year of the Tytam Tuk (First Section)
Water Supply Scheme will bring the reservoir capacity for
the City Waterworks up to 731,695,000 gallons and that
detailed surveys and estimates are in hand for the Second
Section of that scheme which is to be commenced next year
and when completed will add about 1,200,000,000 gallons to
the reservoir capacity and 782 acres to the collecting
area, irrespective of large additional collecting areas
which can be made available by constructing catchwaters.
The smallness of the collecting area is due to the fact
that catchwaters already constructed intercept the drainage
from an area of 320 acres and the temporary pump referred
to in the accompanying statement absorbs a further area of
500 acres falling within the natural drainage area of the
proposed reservoir. In the case of the latter area, only
