I have the honour to state that in
accordance with a suggestion made by the Crown Agents in
their letter No.
47/B/261/2 of the 15th. March last regard-
-ing an audit of the Kowloon-Canton Railway Accounts of
Stores and Expenditure by an officer independent of the
Resident Engineer, I have directed the Local Auditor, Mr.
H. R. Phelips, to undertake this work pending the receipt
of any other instructions which may reach me on the
subject.
2.
I shall be glad to be informed
whether it is usual in such a case to give the Local Auditor
any extra remuneration from Railway Funds and if it is
what would be a reasonable amount for such remuneration.
