include in its premises the encroachment referred to, the

Club has requested the Government to grant it a new Lease

of all the premises now in its occupation for a period of

25 years from the 4th. January last.

The occasion seemed an opportune

one to get rid of the clause in the present Lease by which

compensation was to be granted in the event of the resumpt-

-ion of the site by the Government.

I accordingly caused the Golf

Club to be informed that I was prepared to recommend to

Your Lordship that the Golf Club should be granted a Lease

of the area shown on the accompanying plan on the follow-

-ing conditions:-

(a). Seventy-five years from the 26th.

March, 1895, the date of the existing

Lease which will be surrendered:

(b). No premium:

(c). Crown Rent of $1 a year except for the

sites in the South-West corner occupied

by two sheds which may be held on an

annual permit at $1 rent a year for

each shed:

(d). No compensation for either land or

buildings in the event of resumption

for any purpose:

(e). If the Membership shall fall below 50

resident
