With reference to the second

paragraph of Mr. Lyttelton's Despatch No. 208 of the 8th.-

November, 1905, asking me to furnish a report in six

months' time on the working of Ordinance No. 7 of 1905,

entitled "An Ordinance to amend the Summary Offences

Ordinance, 1845", I have the honour to report that only

one offenes of the nature with which the Ordinance was

specially designed to deal has come before the Police

Magistrate and that it resulted in the conviction of a

woman for soliciting persons for the purpose of prostitut-

-ion.

2.

Four cases occurred in which

prosecutions were instituted under Section 2 of the

Ordinance which extended to private streets the provisions

of Ordinance No. 1 of 1845, with regard to obstructions

which had previously been held by the Magistrates to apply
