My present remuneration not proving sufficient
to enable me to live confortably and without the constant men- tal worry caused through a deficient income, I have the honour to ask you to kindly recommend His Excellency the Governor to grant me an increase of at least £100 per annum.
In making this request which I trust you will
not consider an extravagent one I must ask you to consider the following points in support of this avolication.
School.
When I book charge of this school in March, 1903, the attendance was less than thirty and fees collected ail, whereas last month the attendance was 125 and the fees amount-
ed to $211. During the same period the salaries paid to the Chinese Masters have increased from $75 to $225 per mensem.
During the same period my salary has actually decreased i.e, in the number of dollars received and their
power from a purchasing ooint of view, although I have re- ceived one triennial increment of 630. As regards the manner
in which my duties have been performed i will leave that to
you to express an opinion if you think it is desirable to do

Comparisons of Salaries.
My present income when compared with that of other
professional ladies or gentlemen of the teaching profession
engaged under the Colonial Government is conspicuous by its
meagreness, Kindly como are my solacy, viz: £300 per annum with
the undermentioned salaries:-
