sent remuneration is totally inadequate to support myself, wife
and family, consequently I have great difficulties in making both
ends meet.

That having joined the service in April, 1902, I should
have been entitled to receive the first triennial increment of
£25 10 April last; but unfortunately it was decided that the com-
putation of such increment should date from the time when I join-
ed the sterling scheme, and not from the time when I joined the
service, consequently I would not get my first increment till
the beginning of 1907.

That at the time when I took charge of this School, the
total number of scholars on the foll was below 100, and no fee
was collected; but since then, the number has greatly increased,
and a large amount of revenue collected yearly in fees, the non-
ber and amount whereof for 1904 were 178 and $1,591.50 respective-
lv. These figures have been still further augmented during the
present year, and are 186 and $2,849 respectively, This Fact alone
speaks for itself as to the efficiency of the school which has
been brought about since I had the management thereof.

That although the work and responsibility of the Head
masters of the three District Schools are identically the same,
end of all the District Schools, this one has, during the past
two years, had the highest attendance, collected the largest
amount of fees, shown moet satisfactory results and at the same
tine, oroved the cheapest managed school, (vide Inspector of
Schools' Raport for 1904) yet my salary is considerably less than
those of the Headmasters of the Seiyinggun and Yaumeti District
Schools the difference being 85% and 50% respectively.

That during the past year, the salaries of all the
assistant masters in the District Schools have been materially
increased; but my salery has, owing to the rise in exchange, been
practically reduced by 12 1/2 or thereabouts.
For the reasons stated above, I bag to apply that my
salary be increased immediately to 6270 per annum, rising to £330
