which after a period of depression has now gone back to

the number when Mr. Williams was in charge of it, reaches

I propose that the increases in

the salaries to Mr. Young Hee and Mr. Curwen, should these

receive Your Lordship's approval, should take effect from

the date of that approval. Financial provision can be made

for them from the savings in the Sterling Salaries of the

Department due to the continuance of a high rate of ex-

I would add that for a Chinese

Head Master of an Anglo-Chinese School, who has not costly

passages to defray for periodical leave to England, a

salary of £240 to £285 by £15 triennial increments appears

sufficient. For an English Head Master of such a school
