My Lord,

I have the honour to inform Your

Lordship that, in view of the retirement on pension of Mrs.

E. A. Bateman, Headmistress of the Belilios Public School,

on the 19th. May next, I propose subject to Your Lordship's

approval and confirmation to appoint Mrs. E. Tutcher, First

Assistant Mistress, to the vacant post.

Mrs. Tutcher, who joined the

Government Service in January, 1893, was given her present

appointment in September, 1895. She is reported to be a

diligent and capable officer.

3.

The salary at present attached to

the post of Headmistress is at the rate of $2,400 rising

to $3,000 per annum by triennial increments of $300, with

exchange compensation, but the occasion of Mrs. Bateman's

retirement will be taken to remodel the Staff and to modify

the salaries upon the lines indicated in the Memorandum on

the
