Sir,
With reference to your letter of the 12th
April 1905, 11134/1905), relative to the Memorandum
by Colonel Lewis on the subject of military lands at
Hong Kong, I am commanded by the Army Council to
acquaint you for the information of the Secretary of
State for the Colonies that the Memorandum has received
the consideration of the Army Council, who agree to
accept Colonel Lewis's recommendations as a settlement
of the matters in dispute. A copy of the Memorandum
has been communicated by the Army Council to the Lords
Commissioners of His Majesty's Treasury, and Their
Lordships have intimated their concurrence in the
adoption of the recommendations which it contains.
2. I am to take this opportunity of bringing to
the notice of Mr Secretary Lyttelton a clerical error
which occurs in the amount quoted in the Memorandum as
the valuation of the site below Bowen Road Hospital.
The amount quoted (at pages 2, 7 and 8) is $125,489,
