In reply to your letter, No: 13675/1905, dated 25th instant, enclosing a paraphrase of a telegram from the Governor of Hong Kong on the subject of the reduction of the garrison of that Colony, I am commanded by the Army Council to acquaint you, for the information of the Secretary of State for the Colonies. that they concur that the request of the Governor and the Gener- al Officer Commanding to retain the whole of the four native Indian regiments now in the Colony may be acceeded to, the retention to be strictly limited to the period the belligerent fleets are in the neighbourhood.
