It is understood from your letter of the 11th ultimo that the Bombay Authorities #111 accept certificates as to these parts from Surveyors at foreign ports "lawfully appointed by the public

or ruling authority at such port"; and it is respect- fully urged that the same consideration should be

extended to the Exclusive Surveyore of Lloyd's Register.
