The Karquess of Lansdowne presents his compliments
to Count de Benckendorff, and with reference to Monsieur Sazanov's conversation of the 10th. ultimo with Sir T.
Sanderson respecting the aunitions of war seized at Hongkong on board the Steamship "Tong Chau", has the hon- our to acquaint His Excellency that the Governor of Hongkong will be instructed to hand over the acmunition in question to the officer who may be authorized to re- ceive it, on payment of the expenses which have been in- curred by the Hongkong Government in connection with the matter, including charges at the usual rates for ware- housing it at the Government Gunpowder Depot during the period of detention.
