gard to the increased seignorage.
I am, therefore, to express Lord Lansdowne's
hope that in view of the importance of the interests
involved, Sir E. Satow's suggestion may meet with the
favourable consideration of the Hongkong Government,
and that they may find it possible to undertake the
coinage in question, in order to enable the British
dollar to compete on favourable terms with the Mexi-
can dollar.
