I AM directed by the Marquess of Lansdowne to transmit to you, to be laid before e Lords Commissioners of the Treasury, the accompanying copy of a letter from the lanchester Chamber of Commerce, urging that the Chinese Government should be minded of obligations under Article II of the Anglo-Chinese Commercial Treaty of 102 to provide for a uniform national coinage.
You will observe that the Manchester Chamber of Commerce submit, in the event the Chinese Government not being prepared to establish one central mint, the same roposals with regard to provincial raints as were contained in the letter from the China Issociation of the 23rd May last, copy of which was inclosed in the letter from this Office of the 30th of the same month.
