MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS,5'

2nd. DEPARTMENT.

June 8th (21) 1905.

Monsieur l'Ambassadeur:-

In reply to your note of March 26th (April

8th) relating to Mr. A.H.Rennie's claim for compen-

sation for losses sustained in consequence of the

detention of the Steamships "Arabia" and "Calchas",

I have the honour to inform Your Excellency that the

Ministry of Marine, in view of the decision of the

Supreme Prize Court on November 20th 1904 and May

7th 1905, to the effect that the said steamers were

detained on sufficient grounds and with the obser-

vance of the necessary formalities, finds that the

claim preferred by the aforementioned cannot be sat-

isfied. However, if Mr. Rennie desires to institute

an action for the recovery of the losses he has sus-

tained, he is not deprived of the right to approach

a competent Prize Court by a petition on the subject.

His Excellency

The British Ambassador..
