WITH reference to your despatch No. 424 of the 9th December, 1904, I transmit to you herewith, for your information and guidance, copies of correspondence, as marked in the margin,* relative to the proposed Agreement between His Majesty's Government and the United States' Government for the mutual protection of British and American trade-marks in China.

You will observe that His Majesty's Ambassador at Washington has been requested to inform the United States' Government that His Majesty's Government agree to the proposal that an Agreement should be entered into between the two Governments with regard to China, similar to that they have already concluded for the reciprocal protection of trade-marks in Morocco.

I am, &c.
