I am directed by the Marquess of Lansdowne to
transmit to you a copy of a despatch from His Majes-
ty's Minister at Peking, relative to the murder at
Hongkong of the Chinese Reformer Yeung Kui Wan.
Sir E. Satow incloses a copy of a despatch dated
the 17th of November which the Governor of Hongkong
has addressed to him on the subject, suggesting that
the facts of the case should, when an opportunity oc-
curs, be brought to the notice of the Chinese Govern-
ment.
A copy of the despatch in question from Sir M.
Nathan was as you will recollect, forwarded in your letter 42643/1904 of the 28th of December last, with the proposal that His Excellency should be informed that the Secretary of State for the Colonies shared his views and approved the terms of his despatch.
