In view of above correspondence, it seems useless to bring the matter again to the attention of the Foreign Office. The other scheme proposed and advocated by Litton, viz., railway Bhamo to Tengyueh, is favoured by the Burmah Government, but in regard to this proposal also the India Office and Indian Government appear lukewarm. The Lieutenant-Governor of Burmah appears to think that a rough survey of the Yunchou- Mitu portion of the Lashio-Tali-fu line would be useful, in order to show if latter is or is not practicable (see section 7 of despatch of the 29th June).
