Sir,

-
reference to your letter of the 16th March 1900, No. 7957/1900, and previous correspondence, relative to the acquisition by the Admiralty of certain land at Hong Kong near Mount Parish, Wanchai; I am commanded by the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty to acquaint you,
for the information of the Secretary of State for the
Colonies, that at that time the exact area required could
not then be defined and the necessary steps to carry the
transfer into effect were accordingly deferred.
2. The actual area taken has now been agreed
upon by the local Colonial Government and Admiralty
Authorities, and My Lords have now received a signed
Memorandum of Transfer of the land.
3. Under the Lease of 19th December 1876 the
Admiralty held an area of 60,750 square feet.
The additional area acquired is 39,240
square feet, which at 30 cents per foot equals$11,772.
These two areas are shown in green on the
plan attached to Memorandum of Transfer.
As the sum of $1092 was overpaid by the
Admiralty the Colonial Government proposed to hand over the
area shown in red on the plan, viz., 273,910 square feet in consideration of this amount being waived, and this was
agreed to by the Admiralty on certain conditions.
Under Secretary of State,
4. Dealing
Colonial Office.
