sir,
In connection with the proposed disposal
by the Military Authorities to a new Tramway Company of a
C
corner of Murray Battery a disused work of defence near
this house and with the projected sale by those autho❤
rities of a property at Spring Gardens formerly used for
storage purposes in the East part of the town, a question
has arisen as to the interpretation of paragraph 12 on page
of Colonel Lewis' Memorandum of the 15th. February last
in which it is stated that it might be advisable to dis-
pose of these properties and of the cantonment at Stanley
if the Colony would purchase and that in any case they
formed valuable assets for the War Department. I annex a
copy of a letter I addressed on the subject to the General
General Hatton's reply dated the 28th. of that month.
HE RIGHT HONOURABLE
Officer Commanding on the 24th. November and of Major-
2.
