Receipts on account of the Widows
and Orphans' Pension Fund aggregate in the Estimates of
Revenue $249,000. of the important decreases in those
Estimates that of $180,000 on account of the Opium Farm was
reported in my Despatch No. 418 dated the 12th. December,
1904, and acknowledged by your No. 12 of the 20th. January,
1905. The decrease on account of sale of timber is explain-
-ed by Sessional Paper No. 36 of 1905 of which copies are
being forwarded under cover of my Despatch No. 242 of the
5th. instant.

The Memorandum on the Estimates
of Expenditure above referred to and the footnotes to those
Estimates give explanations of all items of expenditure
that have not already been specifically approved by you,
while my remarks on the introduction of the Estimates will
make clear the changes that are to be effected in the ex-
-penditure of each Department and the programme for Public
Works.
