have the honour to call your attention to the fact that
the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation do much work
for this Government without payment. They advise on our
annual requisitions, store the coins for us in their vaults
and distribute them to the order of the Treasurer. It would
seem therefore fair to the Corporation that the option of
accepting drafts on account of the subsidiary coinage
should be given to them at the lowest rate that the Crown
Agents can obtain outside the Bank before the order is
placed elsewhere, and I suggest that this course be follow-
-ed in future.
