This does not include the cost of the new line to Cape Collinson,

which i do not attempt to estimate for.

14.

The extra saiaries necessary will amount

to £350 rising to £480, being the salaries of three operators in

this Office at f120 rising to £140 each. I do not think it pos-

-sible to get suitable men at lower salary. Lodging allowance will

not be required, as the operators could be accommodated in the

new Harbour Office when built.

15.

Thus, excluding the cost of installation,

the extra cost of my scheme would arount to £260, rising to £320

less the sum at present paid to the Wharf and Godown Company. This, having regard to the very largely increased efficiency which

would result, cannot be considered an excessive one.
