(I) Being drunk on the night of the 8th May while on duty at

the Maternity Hospital.

(2) On the night of the 25th May creating a serious disturbance in his quarters till 3.30 a.m. while under the influence of intoxicating liquors.

Dr. J. Bell, Superintendent of Government Civil Hospital, was SWOLD by His Excellency. Asked by His Excellency to relate what he knew with reference to the charges he said :-

I was sent for at about half past one on the morning of the ninth of May, and when I received the summons I asked why they did not send for Dr. Laing. The man told me that Dr. Laing was sick, and I went across to the hospital. There met Sister Allaway, and then sew Dr. Laing just coming in. I spoke to him for a few minutes and noticed

at the time that he was under the influence of drink. I spoke to him for a minute or two and asked him why he did not come down at

once.

He told me some story about several Russians being in his room.
