Referring to your Circular Despatch

of the 23rd. September, 1904, I have the honour to inform

you that copies of the Indian and Colonial Addendum to the

British Pharmacopoeia were forwarded through the agency of

the Hongkong and China Branch of the British Medical As-

-sociation to Doctors in Hongkong, Japan, and the Chinese

Treaty Ports, who were invited to furnish replies to the

questions contained in Dr. MacAlister's letter.

The result has been most unsatis-

-factory, only one response having been received, from Dr.

H. J. Hickin of Wei-Hai-Wei, a copy of whose letter I have

the honour to transmit for the information of the British

Pharmacopoeia Committee.

The only drug in the Addendum in

use in the Government Hospitals in this Colony is the

Extractum
