Referring to your Despatch No. 51
dated the 24th. March, 1905, on the subject of allowances
to Officers of Colonial Forces who attend courses of
instruction in England, I have the honour to inform you
that I concur in the desirability of adopting the allow-
-ances specified in the printed form (J/13) enclosed in
your Despatch for officers of the Hongkong Volunteer Corps.

You will remember that in my Des-
do
patch No. 45 of the 20th. February, 1905, I proposed that
a Non-Commissioned Officer should receive half the allow-
-ance of an Officer and unless there is any contrary pre-
-cedent, I now propose that Non-Commissioned Officers of
the Hongkong Volunteer Corps should receive 2/6 and 1/3 a
day
