Governor Sir M.Nathan to Mr.Lyttelton

(Received, Colonial Office 8.35 a.m., 26th April,1905)

Out of the four Indian Regiments now here, one

and a half are due to leave tomorrow - one in the

ordinary course of relief and the half on account of

the reduction of the garrison. The other half regiment

is due to leave next month also on reduction of garri-

son. The General concurs with me in recommending that

four regiments should be retained while the belligerent

fleets are in close proximity to Hongkong.

Telegraph if you approve retention.
