Referring to the 6th. paragraph
of my Confidential Despatch of the 24th. March, 1905, on
the subject of traffic in arms and ammunition between
Hongkong and the mainland of China, I have the honour to
transmit for your information copies of a Despatch from
the Governor of Macao which was handed to me by the
Consul-General for Portugal on the 1st. instant, of a
letter I caused to be addressed on the 12th. instant to
His Britannic Majesty's Consul-General at Canton, of Mr.
Scott's reply dated the 18th. and of a Despatch I have
this day addressed to the Governor of Macao, the purport
of which is being conveyed to His Britannic Majesty's
Consul-General at Canton.
