I have the honour to inform you that my
attention has been directed to the difficulties which con-
front Medical Officers in the Service of this Colony who wish
to obtain the Diploma of Public Health.

The Regulations governing Examinations
for this Diploma laid down by the General Medical Council,
prescribe that every candidate must produce evidence that he
has uring six months been diligently engaged in acquiring
a practical knowledge of the duties of Public Health Adminis-
-tration under the supervision of the Medical Officers of
Health of certain districts approved by the Council, or of a
Sanitary Staff Officer of the Royal Army Medical Corps having
a certain command, in the United Kingdom; and further that he
has attended a six months' course of instruction in a recognis-
-ed laboratory. Three months of the former course must be
distinct and separate from the latter, so that the total
length of the course is 9 months.

-bationary course of such long duration, and I understand that
