With reference to your letter 36750/1904 of the 29th of October last, I am directed by the Marquess of Lansdowne to transmit to you, to be laid before the Secretary of State for the Colonies, the accompanying copy of a further letter which has been received from Mr. E. Davis, stating that his friends are still willing to find the capital for the construction of the Canton-Kowloon line or, failing that, the Shanghai-Ningpo-Hangchow line.

Lord Lansdowne would be glad to be able to give Mr. Davis a final answer as soon as possible with regard to the first mentioned Railway.

I am,

Your most obedient,

humble Servant,
