Peking, July 20, 1904. WITH reference to your despatch No. 318 of the 21st October, 1903, and to previous correspondence respecting the Mining Concession of the London and China Syndicate in the Province of Anhui, I have the honour to inform your Lordship that the final contract of the concession was signed last month by the Chinese authorities and Sir John Lister Kaye on behalf of the above-mentioned Syndicate. Before his departure from Peking, that gentleman also applied for and obtained the necessary mining licence through the Foreign Board.
