I am directed by the Earl of Kimberley to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 16th instant, and to inform you that His Lordship approves generally of the proposal that, in the event of the Government of Hong Kong giving dissatisfaction to the Chinese Government he should consult His Majesty's Minister at Peking on the subject.
His Lordship is not aware of any other objection to the proposal.
