Sir: -
I am directed by the Marquess of Lansdowne to
acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 28th
instant, transmitting copy of a telegram from the
Officer Administering the Government of Hong Kong,
reporting the grounds upon which the clearance of
the Steamship "Mascotte" was delayed.
I am, however, to observe that in my letter
of the 21st inst., it was only suggested that a
watch might be kept and report made upon the vessel's
movements.
I am,
Sir,
Your most obedient,
humble Servant,
Forst...
Under Secretary of State
Colonial Office.
