With reference to Mr. Campbell's letter of the 21st on the subject of the sale of the British steam-ships "Ohio" and "Mascotte" which have sailed for Hongkong, en route for Japan, I am directed by the Board of Customs to furnish you with the following particulars relating to tonnage, horse power, and age in the case of the two vessels in question:-
"Ohio".
Built in 1881.
Gross tonnage 3967.24 tons.
Net tonnage 2557.03 tons.
Normal Horse power. 255
Indicated Horse power. 1500
"Mascotte"
Built in 1883.
Gross tonnage 3084.50 tons
Net tonnage 2017.76 tons
Number of Horses Power combined 300.
I am to add that such particulars will be communicated to the Under Secretary of State, Foreign Office.
