The Robert Dickinson 2100 tons gross, 1331 tons net, was solely owned by the Asiatic Petroleum Company, 19-21 Billiter Street, E.C., from whom a notice was received in April last to the effect that the vessel had been sold to Japanese buyers, and the sale being to foreigners the registry was thereupon closed. The Robert Dickinson was abroad at the time, and it was verbally intimated that she was in the East. The Certificate of Registry was then on board the vessel, and has not yet been received by the Chief Registrar, who is making special enquiry with a view to the document being delivered up for cancellation without delay.

I am to add that a similar report has reached the Board concerning the s.s. Ranmoor of London, 2155 tons gross, 1394 tons net, but on enquiry, it appears that no intimation of any sale has been received by the Registrar of Shipping, and that the vessel is now on a voyage to Venice from South Shields which she left on or about the 26th ultimo.
I am further to request to be informed whether the Secretary of State desires the reported sale of similar vessels in the future to be intimated to him when such vessels have actually left British waters.
