I am directed by the Marquess of Lansdowne to state, for the information of the Secretary of State for India, that he has had under his careful consideration your letter, marked Secret, of the 23rd ultimo, respecting the question of the boundary between Burmah and China in the N'Maikha region.

Lord Lansdowne agrees with the views expressed in that letter, and a despatch, of which a copy is inclosed,* has been addressed to His Majesty's Minister at Peking, instructing him to make a communication to the Chinese Government in accordance with the suggestion of the Government of India.
