I am to acquaint you, for the information of the Board of Customs and Excise, with the substance of a Despatch addressed to the Governor of Hong Kong by the Secretary of State for the Colonies, relative to certain restrictions on the importation of foreign sugar into the French possessions in Indo-China.
The Despatch, of which I enclose a copy, states that the importation of all foreign sugar, except from France, is prohibited; certain Chinese sugars only excepted.
I have already had the honour to forward to you a copy of the first of these letters, dated 19/6, and I now enclose a copy of a further letter, dated 28/6, on the same subject.
