Hong Kong is not affected by any mistake that may

have been made in calculating the pension due from

Mauritius.

4. With regard to para 4 of your letter to

the C.A. of Sept 16th I am to inform you that detailed rules as to

the reduction of the pension rate of exchange

officers were communicated to the Straits Settlements service in the Colonial Secretary's

circular of August 6th 1900

i.e. more than a year

before your appointment as Sheriff of

Singapore, your

name appears in the list of officers pensionable and

entitled to draw salary at the rate of 3/6 to the

dollar i.e. 1s/1d, attached to the Col Sec'y's Circular

of May 1st 1891,

on your appointment as Sheriff of Singapore.
