Kowloon Water Works.
Gentlemen,
In continuation of my letter of 3rd instant I beg to state that Mr Chatham attended here on the 6th instant as arranged and on the 7th proceeded with me to Birmingham to the works of Messrs Tangyes in re, the "Tytam" and "Peak" engines.
As to raising the Kowloon Dam in height an additional 5 ft, Mr Chatham quite concurred with me that to do this would necessitate a modification of the outline of the section of the wall, a drawing of which I submitted to him for his approval and which I will send you with my detail Report. In the meantime as the proposed addition to the section will not interfere with the setting out of the foundations the proposed telegram to Hong Kong might read:-
"Chadwick approves construction of dam of increased "section to permit of proposed raising. Drawings "follow. Chatham here and he concurs."
I have etc,
Sd) Osbert Chadwick.
