I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of

your letter No. 88 of the 30th ultimo, and to inform you

that after a full consideration of the circumstances the

Government regrets it cannot admit any liability in

respect of the clearing of débris from the Albany Nullah.

As stated in my letter of the 19th January the damage done

to Colonial property was of a trifling nature; and it is

apparent that the waterway of the nullah was in some way

injuriously affected by the incomplete state of the work

of diversion.

I beg to report in reply to A.

that during last season's rains, the Nullah invert was

completed with a clear outlet to sea for storm water,

therefore there was no obstruction owing to incomplete work
