C.O. 23747 Deck
Extract from Messrs Dennys & Bowley's (Crown Solicitors) opinion dated Hong Kong 8th March 1904 (W.L.1641/04).
These transactions, in relation to the commutation of the Crown Rent, did not pass through our hands and we were not consulted in reference to them.
We wish however to point out that the property is still leasehold and at the expiration of the terms of the respective leases will revert to the Colonial Government as Crown land.
If it was the desire of the Admiralty to acquire the freehold reversion of the property that desire does not appear to have been effected by the commutation of the Crown Rent.
