We used to send out Cadets 1st class even by mail steamer

but abandoned the practice on the ground that it was

illogical to give to a Cadet a privilege which would not

be given to his brother, going out as a doctor or engineer.

I can't see how it affects the dignity of the service and

to go at 2nd class

if it does, it equally affects the dignity of the equally

important medical and engineering branches of the service.

If we gove Cadets first class passages gy mail steamer we

can hardly refuse to do the same for other officers of

the same social standing-( under the old system I had constant

complaints from such persons as officers of the M.S.Guides
