I note passage at end of para 9. It would be interesting to know if they are same people as the Straits farmers. If so, it looks rather as if they freed themselves in Hongkong merely because the endeavour to get a reduction had succeeded in the Straits, not because they had strong case.
I approve his action. I pity that Hongkong officials always expect to be officially thanked when they do anything outside routine work. I so entirely agree
