I acted as Clerk of the Peace from November 1887, and subsequently acted frequently.

I was articled to the Honorable Society of Lincoln's Inn in 1895.

I was admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court from 3rd October 1895, and I acted as such from February 1896.

I was appointed as a Second Magistrate from 1st June 1900 and acted under the Hong Kong Civil Service examinations.

I have a certificate of having passed the final examination on 20th July 1900.

I was appointed as a Police Magistrate, a position to which I was appointed on 7th June 1904.
