and I am of opinion that the emoluments of the appointment
should be intermediate between those of an Assistant and an
Executive Engineer.
5.
I have therefore the honour to request
your sanction for placing Mr. Rees on the permanent staff of
the Public Works Department on a salary of £420 to £540 by
£40 triennially from the date on which his present agreement
expires.
