Sir,

Government House,

Hongkong, 26th October, 1904.

With reference to your Confidential Despatch of the 23rd ultimo, I have the honour to inform you that the expression 'Consul or Officer' in the regulations made on the 5th July, 1904, under the Merchant Shipping Ordinance with regard to the visits of Foreign Men-of-War and the landing of Foreign soldiers and sailors is, as you point out, a misprint for 'Consular Officer'. The mistake will be corrected at the first opportunity.

2.

The members of the Consular Body to whom the new regulations were transmitted, were at the same time informed that the Rules made on 26th June, 1903, which had superseded those previously made, had been rescinded.

I have the honour to be,

Sir,

Your most obedient

Humble servant,

Mother

Governor, &c..

THE RIGHT HONOURABLE

ALFRED LYTTELTON, K.C., M.P.,
