AGREEMENT made the One thousand nine hundred and One day of BETWEEN His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of Hongkong and its Dependencies for and on behalf of the Government of Hongkong (hereinafter called the Governor) of the one part and [Name Omitted] Spinster of the other part WHEREBY it is agreed by and between the parties hereto as follows:-
1. The said [Name Omitted] is hereby engaged as a probationary nurse by the Governor for a term of three years from the One thousand nine hundred and [Date Omitted].
2. The said [Name Omitted] shall during the said term be employed in the Government Civil Hospital or elsewhere as the Government shall from time to time determine, and shall be under the orders of the Medical Officer of the Hospital to which she is for the time being attached and of the Matron or other person in charge of such Hospital and shall do her best to qualify herself to act as a Hospital Nurse, and shall to the best of her ability carry out the orders and directions of such Medical Officer and Matron or other person in charge of such Hospital.
3. The salary to be paid to the said [Name Omitted] in respect of her appointment as a probationary Nurse shall be at the rate of Forty Dollars a month for the first year of the said term, Forty-five Dollars a month for the second year of the said term and Fifty Dollars a month for the third year of the said term. Such salary shall be paid monthly and the said [Name Omitted] shall also be supplied by the Government with uniform and shall be furnished with suitable quarters and allowed seven dollars a month for light and fuel.
4. Should the said [Name Omitted] upon the expiration of the said term of three years hereby created have duly and faithfully performed her duties as such probationary Nurse and have acquired a satisfactory knowledge of Nursing, she shall be entitled to receive from the Government a certificate to that effect.
